Serving Houston
Texas experience applied to Houston roads.
Houston’s freeway network, commercial traffic, construction, port activity, and rapid regional growth create many different serious-accident scenarios.
Every case still turns on its own evidence. The firm evaluates the crash, the insurance coverage, the injuries, the responsible parties, and the legal options available under Texas law.
Where crashes happen
Why are Houston roads so dangerous?
Houston is built around freeways, and the freeways are where people get hurt. The Katy Freeway west of the 610 Loop is one of the widest highways in the world and still jams twice a day. The Gulf Freeway carries beach and port traffic through Hobby Airport’s interchanges. The Southwest Freeway squeezes commuter traffic through the Galleria and Montrose, and the 610 Loop and Beltway 8 ring all of it with high-speed merges every half mile. Add the Ship Channel’s tanker and container trucks on the East Freeway and SH-225, and the result is a county where a serious crash is an hourly event.
The corridors where Houston crashes cluster
- I-45 Gulf Freeway at the 610 South Loop and Broadway
- I-10 Katy Freeway between Beltway 8 and the 610 West Loop
- US-59 Southwest Freeway through the 610 interchange and Westpark
- I-45 North Freeway at Beltway 8 and the Hardy Toll Road merge
- US-290 Northwest Freeway at 34th Street and the 610 interchange
- Westheimer Road from Kirby to Beltway 8, one of the county’s busiest surface streets
Crashes common in Houston
A commuter stopped in Katy Freeway congestion is rear-ended by a pickup that never braked, and the injury is a herniated disc that needs injections and, eventually, surgery.
A tanker truck leaving the Ship Channel drifts across a lane on SH-225 and forces a sedan into the barrier; the carrier’s investigator is on scene before the ambulance leaves.
A rideshare driver waiting for a fare on Washington Avenue is struck from behind at 1 a.m.; the passenger in the back seat needs a shoulder repair, and three insurers point at each other.
